Appointments are approximately 50-60 minutes in length. Your initial appointment will include a comprehensive assessment to allow us to understand your goals and needs. You can find more information about what to expect at your first appointment and in therapy in our FAQ.
Referrals
You do not require a referral from a general practitioner (GP) or other health specialist to come to see us at Head to Toe. Although, if you are coming to see us with physical symptoms, we will ask you to see your GP first to ensure that you are receiving appropriate treatment.
Medicare
The government assists people with the cost of seeing a psychologist by providing a rebate through a scheme called Better Access to Mental Health Care. Your GP will assess your eligibility and may provide you with a referral and Mental Health Care Plan to receive a Medicare rebate for up to ten psychology sessions per calendar year. The rebate for seeing a clinical psychologist is usually $129.55 per session, and for a general psychologist is $88.25 per session, but could be much less if your costs toward healthcare are high and you reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold. Please refer to our FAQ for information about funding sessions through private health insurance.
Fees
Our fees range from $200 to $250 per session depending on the clinician. Our fees are set in line with Australian Psychological Society recommendations.
Cancellation policy
When you make an appointment with a therapist they become unavailable to see other clients. If you cancel your appointment at late notice they are unlikely to be able to schedule another client within a short timeframe. To give you time to reschedule if necessary, you will receive a reminder notification 72 hours prior to your appointment. Please note that it is our policy to charge 50 percent of your appointment fee if you cancel your session within 48 hours, and to charge 100 percent of the fee if you cancel within 24 hours.
